The Opal of Samara is a magical artifact capable of summoning demons, but not controlling them.

History[]

After being recovered by the Teutonic knights from Jerusalem during the Third Crusade, the Opal was stolen by the Nazi occult division and stored in Berlin. The gem was deemed invaluable and dangerous and stored in a magical safe, as it has the ability to summon demons but doesn't control them. The safe could be disarmed by a two part alphanumeric code based on Latin Bible verses--specifically the Stations of the Cross. The Opal was taken from its magical safe by Flynn Carsen during his first meeting with Eve Baird, who was trying to locate and defuse a nuclear bomb at the same time. Flynn initially set off the trap on the safe but was able to defuse it. The Opal is now stored in the Library.[1]
