Wexler University

Wexler University is a university in Eastern Massachusetts that was founded by Josiah Wexler in 1813.

History[]

Josiah Wexler was a famed occultist who used the university’s cover as a small liberal arts college to secretly collect arcane artifacts, research unspeakable oaths, and perform strange and perverse rituals. After Wexler’s explosion and death the university’s arcane past was covered up. The college is subject to encountering a variety of supernatural effects and events. A summoning circle was built into the grounds of the college using rare Blackstone from the Pacific Ocean as the foundation for several buildings. The campus is capable of summoning the Hybristic.

One out of every five Wexler professors moves or transfers out in the middle of the night.
The Wexler University volleyball team disappeared after an away game and all that was found of them was their bus with empty clothes. The staff and students of Wexler University seem to think that this was some sort of a prank instead of a supernatural event.
Wexler University has an annual outbreak of weird warts that cause screaming nightmares.
The school motto/cheer "Appareat diabolus ignis" is a summoning spell for a fire demon.
H. P. Lovecraft is mentioned a number of times in the episode, and many elements, such as the Hybristic, are drawn from the Cthulhu mythos he developed.
