Ray Glasney was the physical form of the spirit of the Library. Due to the trauma of the Anchor Chain being severed, and the difficulty of the Library's return to contact with this plane, Ray was unaware of his true nature, and had only 'flashes' of his true identity and needs. Ray proceeded to kidnap Flynn Carsen based on one of these instincts, and as a team they pieced together the clues about Ray's missing past, using the Eye of Zarathustra to find the Staff and restore Ray's recollections.
